Middle Schoolers Make Kale Smoothies

Lady Moon Returns to Middle School To Make Kale Smoothies.

On our final trip to visit the middle school campus we brought ingredients to make kale smoothies. The students had been great sports trying everything that we shared with them and were pleasantly surprised that they enjoyed the smoothies. Many of the students were not interested in eating vegetables or juicing when we first interviewed them. After our visits to their surprise they learned that they liked vegetables, even those green leafy ones. Many students mentioned that they were eager to experiment with eating and cooking some Lady Moon Farms recipes.

The horticulture class was also working on a project which required them to learn how to build and maintain their own garden beds. As with most things being creative and open minded can open many doors. This project helped us to understand what some young teens think about veggies. We are grateful for the teachers support and this opportunity to meet and share with the students.

Cheryl’s Morning Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups fresh or frozen kale
  • 1 Cup coconut milk, more if needed
  • 2 Tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • Banana
  • Handful walnuts
  • Fresh fruit – pears, apricots, berries
  • 1 Teaspoons chia seeds

Directions:

Throw everything in the blender and blend.  You can substitute any fruit using frozen kale and frozen fruit if necessary.  Get creative with your mixes and enjoy!
