Kickin' Collards

Cooking collard greens are easy to prepare and delicious to eat.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Tbs Olive oil
  • 3 Slices Bacon
  • 1 Large Onion chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Freshly ground pepper
  • 3 Cups Chicken broth
  • 1 Pinch Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 Bunch Collard Greens Cut Into 2

Method
 

  1. Gather your ingredients together.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  3. Add bacon and cook until crisp.
  4. Remove bacon, crumble and return to the pan.
  5. Add onion and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  7. Add collard greens and cook until they start to wilt.
  8. Pour in chicken broth and season with salt pepper and red pepper flakes. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes, or until greens are tender.
  9. This is a perfect side dish for most any meal.
